The Lost Umbrella
On Monday morning, the sky was grey and Mia knew it was going to rain.
She took her favourite red umbrella and walked to the bus stop. The umbrella was old, but she loved it because her grandmother gave it to her many years ago.
On the bus, Mia read a book. She was so happy with her story that she forgot about the rain. When the bus stopped near her office, she stood up quickly and got off. Then she walked to work in the rain. Her hair and coat were very wet.
After lunch, Mia wanted to go home, but she could not find her umbrella. "Oh no!" she said. "I left it on the bus."
She was sad all afternoon. The red umbrella was special, and now it was gone.
The next day, a young man came to her office. He had her red umbrella in his hand. "Is this yours?" he asked. "I found it on the bus. Your name is inside."
Mia was very surprised. She cheered up at once. "Yes! Thank you so much!" she said. "My grandmother gave it to me. I was so worried."
The man smiled. "I am happy I could help. My name is Tom. I take the same bus every day."
After that, Mia and Tom often talked on the bus in the morning. They became good friends because of one small red umbrella.
Now, when it rains, Mia is never sad. She remembers that a rainy day can bring a nice surprise.
